Extra Services

“I Cleenz Macheenz!” reputation for Vapour Bead Blasting and Ultrasonic Cleaning is of the highest order (see What Customers Say tab) – not all suppliers give equal results.  But there are other services offered too, sometimes with associates, where standards are equally high.

Special Hot Washing Process with chemical brighteners can be a good alternative to the bench-mark process, Vapour Bead Blasting (which cannot be surpassed).  This can be used where items, typically some car engine blocks or cylinder heads are too complex for Vapour Bead Blasting.  Soluble Media Blasting can improve badly stained or corroded items of this type – see New! tab.

Dry Bead Blasting and Fine Grit Blasting are only slightly aggressive and are used to prepare some items such as particularly delicate pieces for painting, or highly corroded items before Vapour Bead Blasting.

Light Shot Blasting is offered as a more aggressive cleaner where requested.  G7 chilled iron shot is used which has a particle size of less that 16 thou (less than half a millimetre) which is much finer than used by most shot blasters.

Customers are often referred to me by other blasters when they know the gentle touch of bead, grit or light shot is needed for items such as rust perforated panels, antiques, etc.

Cylinder-Head Renovation, Engineering Repairs or Remanufacture, Welding, Sheet Metal Repairs, Tank and Radiator Repairs of a high standard are offered through associates.  Parts often need cleaning before and /or after so the ‘one stop shopping’ can save you travelling.

Typical jobs include: making 1-off parts, cracked casting welding and machining; broken fin repairs which blend-in superbly; broken stud removal (even with sheared easy-outs jammed-in); thread repairs of any diameter and pitch; cylinder head overhaul (including precision valve-guide manufacture, installation, valve seat trimming, face skimming); sheet metal repairs to tanks, rusted panels or even refabrication; radiator testing and repairs including resizing and uprating, even manufacture of 1-off specials.

Crack Testing & Porosity Testing and Sealing of castings are available.

Polishing of all common metals, even glass and some plastics is looked after by master polisher Frank Ryan. Used items are usually vapour bead blasted first to thoroughly clean and achieve a shine where polishing can’t reach, such as deep, narrow recesses. Flatness and a good colour with the degree of shine required is the objective and nothing beats a good eye, good technique, and practice. Frank has over 45 years’ experience which shows in the high quality of his work. Frank has worked on everything from miniature components in precious metals to the inside of giant architectural structures; from stainless-steel surgical instruments to musical instruments; from pedal car trim to vintage Rolls-Royce trim! Surprisingly, some of the trickiest work can be to replicate factory finishes for original spec. concours motorcycles – it has a certain ‘look’ – colour and finish, which can be challenging to get just right.

Stainless pipes and ali cover polished...........and more polish

Plating, Painting, Powder Coating and other metal finishing are also offered.  In all cases “I Cleenz Macheenz!” prepares the parts to white metal standards using gentle but very effective techniques appropriate to the part.

Most plating companies work on new components and cannot always adequately prepare used pieces, particularly if heavily rusted.  I clean parts to white metal standards and burnish them before plating.  Plating offered includes Cyanide or Acid Zinc with hexvalent or trivalent passivate (the best zinc process available for car and motorcycle parts), or even black or olive green passivate, Polish Chrome and Gold – even on many alloys.

Other finishes available include Chromating of magnesium castings, Parkerising (iron or manganese phosphate) of ferrous parts, Anodising of aluminium.

A process once much used, particularly for extreme temperature parts, is Aluminium or Zinc Spraying where wire is fed into a specialised gun that melts it and sprays the part with the chosen metal.  This cools and forms a tightly bonded matt light grey protective layer of high corrosion resistance. Aluminium spraying can be Vapour Bead Blasted to burnish the surface so as to look like cast aluminium.

Powder Coating, Stove Enamelling, Wet Paint Systems including finishing with Clear Lacquer are also offered.

The following pictures illustrate many of these processes.
