Machine part cleaning for enthusiasts and industry
Incorporating South London Shot-Blasting & Metal Polishing

Car Examples

Most smaller components (up to engine block size) can be gently precision cleaned, and often made to look as good as new, sometimes better than new.  I have many techniques that are used to suit each piece, whether they are engine parts, transmission, brake, steering and suspension components, hardware, tin ware or even plastic items.

Near original finish can be achieved on most alloy castings when spoiled by carbon, contamination, corrosion, or even when spoiled by previous inappropriate grit or shot blasting.

I can also offer a new process - Soluble Media Blasting. The media is barely abrasive and dissolves in warm water. The result is not as good as the benchmark processes, Dry Bead Blasting and Vapour Blasting, but can be close, subject to the particular job. See the NEW! tab.

Due to the size and complexity of some engine blocks and heads, hot pressure washing with chemical brighteners are usually used.

Carburettors and other components can be cleaned inside and out with ultrasonic washing to remove gum and fine grit. Additional techniques may be needed to clean corrosion from the outside for improved appearance. Engine and transmission internals can be ultrasonically washed to render dry and almost clinically clean ready for inspection and reassembly.

Paint can be chemically stripped when abrasive blasting is not appropriate.  Rust pitting in iron or steel can be ‘bottomed-out’ using ultra-fine bead blasting before painting or plating to ensure long lasting results.

A fuel tank and radiator repair service is also available.

Do phone or e-mail to ask about your particular needs to help you with repairs or restoration.

Vapour bead blast on left, dull ultrasonic to right. Jaguar axle holders - vapour bead blast compared to conventional parts washing on right

Aston Martin Al-Fin brake drums and a big beast - 1928 4.5l Bentley

Manifolds, Rocker Covers, Cam Covers and Air Cleaners - these are what you first see when you open the bonnet.  Quite often they are taken off for servicing, so can easily be refinished then without major strip-downs.  In particular, most modern bonnets are almost filled-up with Cam Cover and Manifolds, and just by vapour blasting these items, everything looks really impressive!  Air cleaners can be refinished too, whether plastic or metal, with a technique appropriate to the material.

Your cam covers and manifolds could look like this..............looks god huh!

Tired Dino cam covers............now refreshed

Aston Martin DB1 - polished many years ago............repolished
